DC Oral History Map

Each point on this map provides access to one or more oral histories. Different point symbols are used to represent the locations of residences, schools, and other sites. Pan and zoom, click a point, then click a link in the popup. A popup may have multiple links.  The oral histories might be transcripts or audio or video files.

This project is funded by a grant from the DC Oral History Collaborative, through HumanitiesDC. The map is new, and a work in progress. By the end of 2020, 750 oral histories will be accessed here through about 1,500 points.

In the windows below click the “View larger map” icon in the upper right and enjoy. The first is a simple, naive approach. For the second, I amended the metadata table and mapped that. To the user, the difference can be seen in the pop-ups.
